Dynamic Duo

So, the dynamics at our house have changed quite a bit this week and it's unsuspecting. Somehow, Wyatt's status has changed in more ways than one. The most obvious way is his admission into the BIG BOY club - hence his new big boy bed. No worries there, just slept there like he always had been. But what is even more interesting is the way this has changed the reationship between Wyatt and Emerson. It's like when you think you're out of tequila and you're really bummed, but then you're elated when you find some in the back of the cupboard and also find some really cool margarita glasses you got as a wedding gift that you never knew you had. So maybe that wasn't a good analogy, but you get the drift. They want to do EVERYTHING together all of sudden, and Emerson finally thinks he's worthy of her attention. Does this mean I can start drinking those margaritas (before they get knocked over) while they keep each other occupied?! Oh, I hope this is the prelude to our spring/summer...

Do you hear me pining over the fact that I no longer have a baby (like you thought I would)?....not.so.much.

How cute is this? Wyatt helping Daaaddaaa put his crib together. What I failed to mention is the difference in dynamics between Daddy and Wyatt. It's like now that he's sleeping in a big boy bed, we need to get him some wife beaters (that's a kind of shirt) or something. He is definitely feeling more love all the way around (over a stupid bed?).

More, better snow

We had more snow last weekend, this time a the good snowman makin' kind. Wyatt was thrilled with all the different variations. The snow came overnight and was pretty much gone the next day, the best kind. I love NC.

Daddy took Emerson to her first "Go Heels!" game, and believe it or not, they actually won.

And it was Valentine's weekend, so we baked cookies and even had a treat for the little ones. Wyatt was scared to death of this Imaginext dinosaur, but would attempt to ROOOOAAR right back (as he was running away).

Is it spring already?

I say that when I was the one prompting Friday night dance party a few weeks ago, specifically the "snow" dance party. And it worked! I love the snow, just once or maybe twice. Tons of snow, such a treat for us and lots of fun for the neighborhood kiddos. We live on a hill, a huge hill that everything rolls down everyday. It's a huge pain, most days. Ahh, but when it snows that one or two days out of the year - it is the place to be! Wyatt's first real snow since he can walk and since one of the five words he can say is "snowman," we took him out for whirl. He sled down the hill by himself and couldn't get enough.

Of course this didn't last long because they weren't so excited about the snow gear, but I'm so glad we had it. Thanks Grandma!

We were stuck in the house for several days and a nice little stomach bug visited everyone but Mommy. Not fun. It was like a scene out of a horror movie or something...

Urge to Purge?

We have spent most of our weekends these days purging, purging, purging. We FINALLY got rid of all of our baby stuff that was literally taking over our house. Oprah is right, it does change your life. I feel a sense of peace with my newly organized self, and I'm looking for more things to organize! We are in the process of selling Wyatt's baby furniture, which hurts my heart a little - okay, a lot. There's nothing, and I mean NOTHING, I enjoy to do more than decorate a baby's nursery and now those times are behind me. I just have to post so we don't forget how beautiful they both were (don't know if Emerson's could ever be topped).

This was not the initial purpose of this post, I just started to purge a bit myself and in the process I realized I have failed miserably as a mother and never took a single picture of Wyatt's nursery. I vow to go home tonight and take a picture of the (small) corner that still looks like a nursery. As a second child myself, I realize this will continue to be his life's story. I promise to try harder, buddy roo.

We had a great weekend. We went to go see a Curious George reading and actually got outside a bit with Kaytlin.

(Last) Friday Night Dance Party

It's a new tradition - Friday night dance party (usually followed by pizza). Wyatt's got Daddy's smooth moves! Sing along with me...if you want my body, and you think I'm sexy...

Haiti - and the Mangines

Usually my posts are about happy things, but yesterday as our life group was meeting - something awful happened was happening in Haiti - and we didn't even know it. I just want to take a moment to mention that we are all praying for Haiti and the devastation that they are faced with today, especially our church missionaries that live there and have made the ultimate sacrifice - the lovely Mangine Family. Erick and I have discussed visiting Haiti several times and hope to be able to go when the children get a bit older. We hope to meet Jean Louis one day ;-) Until then, we will pray for strength to get them through this difficult time and hope they realize how loved they are.
