Father's Day

Yesterday was Father's Day and I just wanted to share two of my favorite photos - our kids really are the luckiest children in the world to have Erick as their Daddy. And I mean that from the bottom of my heart...

Emerson's First Recital

Wow, to say we weren't too sure how this was going to pan out is an understatement. What we didn't realize is that she's growing up...by the second. She was calm (okay, somewhat), controlled and LOVED being on stage. This has not always been the case. On Friday afternoon, we stepped into Stuart Theatre (at NCSU) for rehearsal and I was instantly emotional, even teary-eyed. I can see those other little girls with my eyes, but they are so much bigger than Emerson. In a split second, I realized she was one of them and she was so independent and I was overcome with so many feelings. I was proud, anxious, sad, and happy all at the same time. Please God, make sure needs her Mommy (which has recently been shortened to Mom, for which I correct her EVERY time) forever. We had so much fun for the first time with all this girly stuff, and I can see this as a prelude into the future.

I also mentioned to Erick that it was important to reflect on this dance experience. There were many times that we wanted to quit because she didn't seem to be enjoying it (which is equally as dreadful for us), but we stuck with it and now she loves it. She really is growing up, in so many ways.

Celebratory ice cream!
